Re: Yahoo messenger "The Webcam Does Not Support The Required Image Size"

I opted for Windows Live Messenger instead of YIM.  So far it is working great.

Re: Quickcam IM and yahoo messenger

Hello,

Same problem. windows XP.

Messenger does not detect webcam.

-Quickcam Ultra Vision version 11.1.0.2030
-Yahoo Messenger 8.1.0.413

Both reinstalled with the latest versions. Capture video works correct.

1.Yahoo messenger thinks its a USB phone.
2. My webcam: Sorry, no Webcam was found on yor system

I used the Microsoft utility Ampcap to check colorsettings and imagesize: rgb 24 and 320x240 both recommended by yahoo.

I also went through the specifications from Yahoo site for webcam under Yahoo Messenger, all software (directx v 9.0)  is correct.

Help would be very much appreciated.

Re: Yahoo messenger "The Webcam Does Not Support The Required Image Size"

I had the same problem using Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 (running on MS Vista)inside Yahoo Messenger (v 8.1.0.421). The web cam works fine in Vista and MS Live Windows Messenger, but not with Yahoo Messenger. Initially I used AMCAP (a Yahoo Messenger utility to set the camera parameters to Yahoo Messenger's requirements) to configure all the necessary values for the camera, but still it did not work for Yahoo Messenger. Then I used VirtualDub. Same result. Finally, I used VIDCAP32.exe. It worked. Once I configured all the values for the web cam that Yahoo Messenger required, Yahoo Messenger recognized the web cam instantly!

Thank you for reporting that the Vidcap32.exe "fix" also works on Vista.

Unfortunately, I need to correct something that you mentioned in your post.

Amcap.exe is a Microsoft utility, not a Yahoo! Messenger one. It comes as part of the Microsoft DirectX, DirectShow, and Platform SDK.

Thanks.
