For the last 8 months I've used my MX Revolution flawlessly on a Gigaware USB hub from Radio Shack. While I could use the front or back ports on my computer I rather not use them. I also have only seen it when I have ActiveSync installed. So I'm still wondering if that is causing the problems.
As of recently the receiver has been malfunctioning when using the hub in either one of two manners.
1. The device comes up as an 'unknown device'.
2. The device functions normally, but becomes erratic when plugging in other devices to the hub and when the keyboard is attached the receiver goes offline.
The only reason why I rather not use the computer is because it can get rather hot, and I rather not damage the receiver by ecessive heat.
Also, this has happened in Windows XP without SetPoint.
My father also had the same issue on a USB extension cable (No ActiveSync), although it was from the get go, continual fails (on Vista Ultimate 64, though) but it worked on a front port.
