Ever since upgraded to windows 7, the buttons on the touch panel are not working. The only buttons that are working are power, level and display buttons. I have updated the drivers and also tested using audio cables with no problems.

Seems the music control buttons are not working. Can someone please help?

N700 Lapdesk and Headphones

Just bought this great lapdesk this week after a Belkin cooling pad broke on me after just two weeks. This is super-comfortable and is keeping my Dell XPS 1730 nice and cool. The sound from the speakers is great too, much better than the built-in. However, there are times when I'm gaming and need to use my headphones (because the idiots I'm raiding with make a lot of noise in Ventrilo), but it seems like you can't do that with the lapdesk plugged in. Has anyone figured out a way to have the fan stay running but have the sound turned off so your headphones work? I was thinking of playing around with disabling the device, but I wasn't sure if that would stop the fan too. Seems like a feature they should have thought to build in, maybe even a headphone jack on the desk. Oh well, can't have everything unless you build it yourself.

Hi. I have been using this kind of speakers since about Christmas..And everytime I start a game after a bit the sound just disappears and I have to unplug the USB and replug into the USB port but this does not work everytime. I am using Windows 7 x32. And another one of my problems is that the sound is quite high even on the volume level 1. There is no difference between 4-50...and is quite loud for the lowest amount of Volume..Thanks. Hoping this will be answered and fixed

My solution for Freezing/Crashing Z-cinema usb speakers

My problem: The speakers stopped working after i turned on a electric motor (like my ceiling-fan) near the speakers.

Cause: Electromagnetic "radiaton" emitted from the ceiling fan and other devices (when turned on). Note: There were no spikes on the electric net.

Solution: I removed my extended usb cable(6 meters), and replaced the whole cable with a shorter (2 meter) thicker and shielded usb cable. The one provided by Logitech is no good. You need shielding like this:

http://www.rgvfsbo.com/pix/72%20inch%20USB%20shielded%20cable%20%281%29.JPG

No longer than 5 meters.

Z-10 Speakers Not Working - LCD Screen Frozen - Anyway to Reset?

You know, it truly amazes me. I never in my wildest dreams could believe just how many Z-10 related issues I would see in this thread, but there are at least a dozen on the frontpage alone! Makes me a bit weary that I'll ever find a fix for this, or that I will ever purchase Logitech hardware again...

Anyways I purchased my Z-10s for my parents awhile back. I never had an issue with them until last weekend, when I came to visit them and noticed that the information on the screen display was wrong (Mentions Monday May 10, 1:10 pm). I asked them what was up and my mother told me she didn't know, but she or my father rarely use the computer.

Anyways I attempted to disconnect the speakers from the USB drive, thinking it would reset them (I mean, without a power-source how could it still function?). Apparently I was wrong, it did absolutely nothing. It looks as though the speakers are frozen and I can't seem to find a way to manually reset them (a pretty rookie move not to incorporate some type of manual reset button).

Anyways I want to know if there's a way that I can reset them, or whipe any and all settings to restore it as though I had just purchased them.

Thank You

Note: I don't really expect to hear from a Logitech CSR...at least not for awhile, based on other threads involving Z-10 issues.

So, I have a weird issue with my Z-5 and pure-fi anytime ipod alarm device.

I am trying to use my Z-5 remote to control the speakers, but oddly enough they actually end up controlling the pure-fi anytime speakers. I never had this problem until recently. I moved and had to disconnect everything, so something must have happened between me unplugging and re-plugging everything back in, although I can't think what would have changed.

It's a really frustrating and weird issue. Even with the pure-fi anytime unplugged the remote for the Z-5 doesn't control the speakers. Odd, I've looked on this forum and tried the suggested options such as changing the Human Interface Device in services.msc to automatic.

Any advice / help would be great.

I would like to lengthen the cable that joins the two Z-10 speakers.

Can somebody let me know how many cores are in the cable that's marked AWM E200088 STYLE 20276 VW-1. I'm assuming it's a 4 core cable (2 for power and 2 for speaker signal) but I'd like to know for certain before I cut the cable?

Volume buttons on the V10s stopped working a week ago. I have a second set of these, and swapping speakers and cables did not help. The speakers work fine otherwise. Any thoughts?

Z Cinema Windows 7 workaround, possible FIX without losing remote control functionality

Dear Logitech users,

For those not interested in the conclusions I have made, please skip the following paragraph and read the FIX section of my post.

I have had my Z Cinema speaker set for around 2 years. At first, I was using them with a Windows Vista 64bit Ultimate based system via USB link for more than a year. Everything worked fine, then went for a Windows 7 64bit Ultimate CLEAN installation, the speakers still worked fine via the USB link. After a few months of use I started to experience the crashes commonly described by users at various sites and forums. The crashes at first were rare, but the frequency quickly rose to a point when I couldn't listen more than one song without to have to reboot my computer. There were several possible fixes proposed by other users, but neither of them kept all the functionality of the speaker set, and in my case neither using the default Windows 7 driver and NO Z Cinema software installed, nor restarting Audiosrv and the related services, nor clean installations of Windows 7 and Windows Vista fixed the issue.

That's why I have come to the conclusion, that this is a hardware problem with the communication and/or control logic of the set. That I dare to promote as the truth for several obvious reasons - 1st the speakers did work fine both with Vista and 7, and since nothing in the hardware of the PC changed, nor in the Z Cinema software, the OS is not responsible for the crash, 2nd Logitech's support is aware of the issue massively spread among the users of the Z Cinema, but still Logitec does NOT provide any updates on the software, furthermore they claim that the product has ended its life. That is maybe because they know that no matter what improvement they do in the Z Cinema software, they will not be able to fix the hardware component failed in the sets, thus no support is proved, nor new versions of the software. 3rd after my fix is applied to the system, it's clearly "hearable" that there is something wrong with the USB logic in the speaker set, either with the I/O buffers, or with the DSP processor. Furthermore no matter if the computer is feeding music or not, from time to time the computer is detecting that the speaker set is unplugged (even though that physically the connection is still on) and quickly detected as plugged in again.

***************** FIX Section ******************

Please be advised if you follow this procedures you do it on your OWN risk, and the author (me) is not responsible for the consequences.

Supposedly you have installed Z Cinema software already.

First you have to obtain the file usbaudio.sys from a Windows XP installation disk, the file is supposed to be found on the CD in the directory I386. Next you have to take ownership of the usbaudio.sys in the directory C:\Windows\System32\drivers , you can do that manually, or use the GrandFullAdminControl context menu fix, that can be found googling. After you do these two steps, you have to replace the usbaudio.sys file in the C:\Windows\System32\drivers and in two file repository folders. You can find those folders by simple search via F3 button in the Windows directory. If you experience problems replacing the file, you probably have to take ownership of the whole "drivers" directory. The last step is to reboot, and using the F8 key disable the driver enforcement function of Windows 7.

Now you should have fully working Z Cinema speakers, connected via USB cable and fully functional remote control.

Side effects of that intervention are: instead of crashing while playing sound, your speakers will just stop playing the sound for about a second, and then continue, in extensive playback, after several speaker stop/starts your Z Cinema software will stop controlling the speaker set, so you just have to right click on it and exit, then turn it on again via the Z Cinema shortcut. Rarely, but possible you will have to unplug and plug again your set manually to allow Windows to use them again.

Good luck,

and hopefully Logitechs support will live up to our expectations someday...
