i bought the MP version today and the focus was fixed; unless i had it set a foot away from my face i looked like a blob. so i returned it an hr later and got the deluxe. 85 after taxes. ive been using the same quickcam zoom for like.. 10 years now and the clarity was impeccable on it. i buy an expensive **bleep** newer model and this is what i get??

am i doing something wrong? i feel like there's a plastic peel-off shield over the lens almost. this is on the clearest focus i can get with the

manual wheel.

Message Edited by Pegasus on 11-20-2008 11:38 PM

Can I use an IR Illuminator with my webcams?

Hi. I own three Logitech Webcams which I use for my wecam site, JerseyCam . They include a Communicate STX, a Communicate MP, and a Orbit MP. I would like to allow my visitors to view the cams when the lights are off, and was wondering if I bought some LED IR illuminators, would the Logitech cams be able to see in darkness? I tried to locate someone to email, such as a engineer, but could find no one. I'm hoping the people in the forums here could help me out. If anyone knows any particulars, such as the best wavelength to get, that would be most helpfull. I would like to know before I purchase a illuminator, so I don't end up wasting money on one.

Thank you in advance.

Dear Forum,

I like the QuickCam Pro for Notebooks quite a bit, however is there a way to deactivate the tedious snapshot button on top of the cam? You may call me clumsy but close to every time I touch the cam I create an absolutely undesired picture of myself and/or the things next to me.

(My question refers primarly to Windows XP.)

Many thanks in advance,

Alex

Hello,

I recently purchased an old Quickcam for Notebook Deluxe (Part Number: 961400-0403 / 960-000012). It works fine when plugged directly into my laptop but when I try to plug it into my powere Belkin 4 port USB 2.0 HUB it ceases to work. Windows still registers the device and it shows up in My Computer however when I try to open it I receive an error indicating that it failed to initialize the camera. The self diagnostic (right click in my computer -> properties -> self diagnostic or something similar) reports that the camera is working fine.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Chris
