Original G15 keys wearing out and I can't return it???

I bought this G15 keyboard when they first came out. Some of my keys are worn to where you can even read the letter on it. The space bar has a big worn spot in the middle also.

From reading posts on here, I was under the impression that Logitech would exchange this keyboard for a new one with keys that won't fade. However, I just called Logitech customer support and sat on hold for 15 minutes only for them to tell me that there is nothing they could do and don't have replacement keys. He actually suggested sending it to somewhere like colorware to have the keys repainted. lol.

Anyway, I'm wondering if its just the rep I got or will Logitech not replace this now ugly looking keyboard?

Do Logitech Customer Support ever respond?

I contacted Logitech Customer Support via their website on 17th November about a hardware problem with my keyboard. They replied on the same day requesting photographs which were provided the next day. Since then despite several reminders I cannot get any response of any sort at all out of them. Is this nnormal?

Their e-mail says if no customer response in 120 hours then they assume the matter is closed. A clear double standard as it is nearly double this and no reply from them.

This rather puts me off buying any other Logitech products.

I mistyped the subject line on purpose to show whatt the problem is. But I am not joking in this message content. See the word "whatt" in the first sentence? My G15 keeps doing that. I figured fancy keyboards were more sensitive so you could type faster, but I think I have a defectuous keyboard in the end.

Or does this happenn to anyone else here? And do you think they will exchange my keyboard over this?

Thank you, I am tiired of mistyping my passwords and making typos all ovver the place.

PS - All double-typed letters in this message content were the fault of my keyboard :P

LX500 Mouse works, keybord does not

Just a short time ago my LX500 keyboard stopped working. I changed to new batteries, went through the reconnect procedures several times but no luck. I also reinstalled the latest drivers. When I click the Connect Utility, it asks me to connect the cordless mouse Mini Receiver to a usb port, which it already is. The mouse works fine. Any suggestions? Thanks

Dumb navigation pad designs???

Hi,

I have to buy a new keyboard and to say the least, I'm pretty upset about the current stupidity leading the design of navigation pads.

First of all, for years, it has been Ins/Del, Home/End, PgUp/PgDn.

After that, all of a sudden, without notice Logitech and MicrobeSoft started to remove the INS key and double the DEL key height.

What's the point?

Also, they moved the Home/End to the top, and let the PgUp/PgDn vertically.

But that was not enough they also now have huge DEL key, and then "normal" Home/End, PgUp/PgDn next to it.

This let me think that this has not been thought at all.

I really doubt that there has been a serious design "study" behind that and that the new place of the keys responds to user's needs.

Proof is that among the keyboard series of the same builder (logitech or microbesoft) they still produce some normal ones, some near normal ones, and others with the "new" design.

Don't you think this is ridiculous? If the new navigation pad design was really studied to answer most needs, it would be then imposed on each keyboard, not "randomly".

As a developper, I use INS all the time, I navigate all the time with PgUp/PgDn and work at various places. Most keyboards are still "normal" (Ins/Del, Home/End, PgUp/PgDn) and adjusting to those dumb new ones are always really upsetting.

Not being able to find a keyboard/mouse with normal navigation keys, I was forced to leave and have bought a MicrobeSoft keyboard (which is kind of ugly, it's MicrobeSoft), but at least offers normal keys.

Anyone also upset about this stupid trend?

(Yes I know, it's not stupid, it has been studied, and only stupid people can't adjust to novelty)

Steve

g15 g-keys can't be reassigned

I've bought a g15 v2 keyboard earlier this month, and installed everything I need. After the install I noticed the N-key didn't work so I've returned it 2 days later since it's a national day off on the 11th in Belgium. I had the time to get familiar with the keyboard and finally I've got the replacement and installed it.

Now I did notice my G-keys won't reassign the keys, so I'm stuck with the standard key setup, meaning F1 etc. Wich isn't that bad, but it's annoying since i can't use other keys for it limiting my abilities for other things.

Any help possible please? :)

edit: it works now, problem solved

Message Edited by SnOwBunZz on 11-23-2008 08:27 AM

I love my 710 keyboard, put in in my totebag to take with me and it quit working. :-( I know, not smart. It doesn't appear to be damaged, I didn't drop or bang it. MOuse is working fine and batteries are fine. Is there a key or something I might have pressed that would make this happen? IS there something I might be able to do - keys to press to get it working again?

This is strange. The G keys work, the light works, the USB ports work, and the screen works. The rest of the keyboard, including the numpad, letterpad, volume, |<<, >>|, stop and play/pause do not work. Here is what I have tried:

-------------

-Unplugging other keyboard.

-Plugging in back and front of computer case.

-Installing drivers provided with CD, and downloading the latest Vista 32-bit drivers from the internet.

-------------

Should I restart the computer? Contact technical support?

--------------

Hi everyone.

Well, as I was removeing the membrane to clean it, it managed to tear one of the connectors.

I know this keyboard is out of production, and that by me admiting that i opened it, all warrentys are void (they would have been void if I tryed to rma and the damage was seen any way), this is not a mistake im looking to get fixed for free, im just hoping that somone can point me in the correct direction for obtaining a new membrane.

thanks for your time.

Yesterday everything was working fine. Today when I turn on my computer, my G keys aren't emulating the proper keystrokes in my application. I do all the normal stuff, checking profiles, etc. The problem is, if I bind it to a 'normal' key like W or S, the application responds, so it can't be the profiler. So I test it with the "Test Profile" option within the keyboard profiler, which should eliminate any profile-application problems anyway.

G1 bound to W

W down, G1 down, G1 up, W up just as expected

G1 bound to F1

F1 down, G1 down, G1 up, F1 up, also no problems

G1 bound to Ctrl

Ctrl down, G1 down, G1 up, Ctrl up, but combining any of these breaks it

G1 bound to Ctrl + F1

G1 down, G1 up. Period. This behavior is the same regardless of which Ctrl, Shift, Alt key I apply (right/left), and also remains consistent across keys other than function keys, such as numbers. Binding to different G keys produces the same effect.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled, including wiping out all Windows keyboard devices and starting from scratch. As I was typing this, it started doing something new. The keyboard profiler app is crashing without giving errors other than Windows informing me. Another strange symptom: when I hit a G key the MR key starts flashing on its own. Pressing it does nothing.

I hope a combination of these odd behaviors can lead you to the cause of my problem. Thanks in advance.

Windows Vista 64 (yes, I'm using the right drivers).

G15 version 1.

I always like and use diferent Logitech products (Harmony Remote, mouse, keyboard and other products). But concerning the such product as top keyboard G15 it seems to me that nobody of Logitech support want to SOLVE a trouble of non working keys on G15. Scrolling the different forums I found out that the present problem is quite spreaded. I have also non working "+=" and other keys in many games and BIOS also. My PC is XPSp3. As a game elaborater I would not to come to an other keyboard brand. But because on non support of the mentioned trouble on the side of Logitech team I should to do it.

I hope to find an issue here at the forum and looking forward to the soonest reply of Logitech support team.

Regards

Yuri Kozlov

Is repair a possible option for the older model G15?

I have been using G15 keyboards a number of years but have a G11 now because both of my G15s had keys stopped working and I much prefer the 18 G key G15 over the 6 G key G15. The 18 G key layout is perfect for MMO gaming setup, the 6 G key layout would remove my hand from the mouse because i would have to use 2 modifier keys to get 18 options without switching between M1, M2, and M3, which would really slow me down. The first one the keys down the center, between the home position for the index fingers died, the second I don't actually remember which keys went bad. I know keyboards used to use a series of conductive strips with plastic between the 2 layers and a top rubber pad the key pressed against to make the conductive strips meet and effectively function as an on switch for the key pressed.

I saved them and still have my 2 G15s that are not fully functional any more but I never opened them up to see if the same basic method of keypress recognition is still used in the G15s. I really would like to get them to work again so I was wodering if the internal pad was still available and if either they could be sent in for repair or I could purchase the internals and repair them myself. Please let me know, I miss my LCD display but will never go to the new G15 model, it is just not in the same class for MMO gaming as the old model G15 and the G11. I have wondered since I first saw the newer G15 model advertised what prompted the decision to make a lesser version of the G15 and stop making the good version of the G15.The newer version LCD is worse in my opinion too, I am short and the angle of the LCD is not adjustible so, as I discovered at a friend's place, I can't see the LCD as clearly.

But anyway, the whole point is can I get them repaired or the parts to repair them or do I have to Frankenstein them?
